THE CATHOLIC CHURCHThe Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, built in 1884 was destroyed in the January Earthquake killing the archbishop of Haiti instantly. Roman Catholicism is the official religion of Haiti and 97% of Haitians practice catholic or other denominations of Christian worship.
